HeKA is a multidisciplinary research team specializing in biomedical informatics, biostatistics, and applied mathematics in digital health. It focuses on the development of learning health systems that leverage multimodal health data (e.g., electronic health records, clinical trials) to improve precision medicine and healthcare quality. HeKA collaborates with leading institutions across Europe to advance digital innovations in healthcare.
The HeKA team from Inria, Inserm, and the University of Paris Cité is recruiting a motivated researcher to join the SMATCH project (Statistical and AI-based Methods for Tackling Challenges in Advanced Clinical Trials for Digital Health), which is part of the Digital Health Program (France 2030). The objective of the SMATCH project is to develop and apply statistical and AI-based methods to accelerate the development of medical interventions (drugs and digital medical devices) during their evaluation in clinical trials.
Main Responsibilities
The recruited person will be responsible for:

Coordinating scientific work with all collaborators involved in the task led by Inserm.

Evaluating existing designs concerning digital medical devices (DMDs) based on artificial intelligence (AI) and interoperable devices.

Analyzing DMDs that have or have not received reimbursement approval from the HAS (Haute Autorité de Santé).

Identifying the needs in terms of evaluation designs for DMDs that did not meet methodological requirements.

Studying existing requirements for DMDs in different EU countries.

Developing a framework and guidelines for evaluating DMDs according to their subtypes.

Collaborating with the HAS to validate the findings.
Desired Profile
This position is open to holders of a Ph.D. in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, pharmacy, medicine, science, or engineering.
Proficiency in statistical software or programming languages is required, as well as expertise in public health, health economics, or biostatistics.
Strong teamwork skills will be appreciated.
